Dissimulation

I’ve always called it
subterfuge,
or a ruse
if used in the legal sense;
“bullshit”
is more accurate.

Perhaps disguising
our real agenda
is just
human camouflage.
Perhaps we’re childish,
standing beside
the broken vase
saying
“I didn’t do it”

Nonetheless,
I am still dismayed
that this
sneaky little word
has become
the modus operandi
for church
and state.
